How do I edit my profile?

To edit your Langmate profile, go to the My Page tab and tap the My Profile icon. From there, you can update your photos, bio (About Me), languages, and tags.

Keeping your Langmate profile up to date is the best way to get more matches and find the perfect language exchange partners. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to update your profile settings.

My Pictures

1. Go to the My Page tab
2. Tap the My Profile icon
3. Locate the My Picture section

Note: You can add or delete your profile photos (maximum 6 pictures).

Main picture (avatar)

The Main Picture is the first one users will see while visiting your Card. It’s also the picture used as an avatar (on Chat, Friend and Chat lists).
Note: In order to get more matches, we advise you to set up a main picture.
> Tap on the first picture of the list, with the black border and avatar icon
> Select if you want to take a new photo with your camera, or choose an existing one from your device photo album.

Additional pictures

Add:
> Tap on the icon on a gray empty box
> Select if you want to take a new photo with your camera, or choose an existing one from your device photo album.

Delete:
> Tap on the icon on the top right of the picture you want to remove.

My Infos

1. Go to the My Page tab
2. Tap the My Profile icon
3. Locate the My Infos section and tap on the topic you want to edit

Name

1. Tap on Name
2. Write your new user name (20 characters maximum)
3. Tap Save in the top right corner

Note: For security reasons, only one change of user name is allowed!

Gender, Nationality, Birthdate

For safety and security reasons, your Gender, Nationality, and Birthdate cannot be changed once your account is created.
If you made a mistake during registration, please contact our support team.

Where I live

1. Tap on Where I live
2. Select your place of residence from the list

About Me

1. Go to the My Page tab
2. Tap the My Profile icon
3. Locate the About Me section and tap on it to edit
4. Edit your profile text
5. Tap Save in the top right corner

Tip: Please be careful not to put information on your profile that could allow others to identify or contact you outside of Langmate. Never put your personal social network IDs, email, phone number, or home address etc. on your profile.

My Languages

1. Go to the My Page tab
2. Tap the My Profile icon
3. Locate the My Languages section and tap on it to edit
4. On the new screen, choose between the list of languages you can speak and the list of languages you want to learn

Adding a new language

1. Tap on the icon to add a new language
2. Scroll the list until you find the language or use the search function
3. Tap on the language name

Note: You can add up to 3 languages maximum.

Deleting a language

1. Locate the badge containing the language you want to delete
2. Tap on the icon

My Tags

1. Go to the My Page tab
2. Tap the My Profile icon
3. Locate the My Tags section and tap on it to edit
4. Select the things you like, your hobbies or passions
5. Tap the Select button to save your selection

Note: You can add up to 8 Tags maximum.

How to preview my card

• At the top of the My Profile page
• > Tap on the Preview my card button
• > Go back and exit the preview by tapping on the icon on the top left

Note: This is the exact preview of how other users will see your Card.

Profile Tip:

To get more matches, briefly introduce your hobbies, why you are learning the language, and what kind of friends you are looking for.

Troubleshooting: Can’t update your profile?

• Name, Gender, Nationality, and Birthdate: For safety and security reasons, gender, nationality, and birthdate cannot be changed after registration. Your user name can only be changed once.
• Changes not saving: Ensure you have a stable internet connection and are using the latest version of the Langmate app. If the issue persists, please try restarting the app or contact our support team.
