To start chatting with a new match on Langmate, open the Messages tab and tap their profile icon in the “New Friends” list at the top, or simply tap the button directly on the “You got a new match!” popup.
Starting a conversation with a new match
Method 1: Chat directly from the Match popup
- After matching, a “You got a new match!” popup will appear.
- Tap on the button and a new chat room will open.
You may see a “Start Chatting” button. If so, simply tap it to begin your conversation.

Method 2: Start a chat from the Messages tab
- Go to the Messages section of the Langmate app.
- On the top of the screen, locate the New Friends horizontal list.
- Tap on the user picture you want to start talking with.
- The chat window will open.
💡 Tip: Not sure what to say in your first message?
A simple “Hello” is a great start! To get more replies, try sending a greeting in their native language, or ask a simple question about one of their profile photos to break the ice.
