How do I block or unfriend a user?

How do I block or unfriend a user?

If you no longer want to communicate with a user, you have two options: Unfriend or Block. Here are the differences and how to do both.

What is the difference between Unfriend and Block?

  • Unfriend: Removes the user from your Chat list and deletes your chat history. However, you may still see them in the Match screen later.
  • Block: Completely prevents the user from contacting you or seeing your profile on Langmate. You will never be able to match with them again. Note: Blocking cannot be undone.

How to Unfriend a User

  1. Open your Chat with the user you want to unfriend.
  2. Tap the Menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner.
  3. Select Unfriend and confirm your choice.

How to Block a User

You can block a user directly from their profile or your chat screen:

  1. Open the user’s Profile or your Chat with them.
  2. Tap the Menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner.
  3. Select Block (or Report & Block) and confirm.

If you feel the user has violated our Community Guidelines, we recommend reporting them as well. For more details, please see our guide on how to report a user.

  1. Tap Messages on the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Friend Requests at the top.
  3. Scroll through your Friends list and tap the Menu icon (three dots) to the right of the user you want to block.
  4. Tap Block.
